Frequently Asked Questions
- Schedule your appointment at least 1-2 weeks prior to a special occasion or event, such as a wedding or a vacation, due to the risk of bruising and swelling post-treatment.
- Arnica tablets can be taken 1-week prior to your treatment if you wish to help prevent and minimise bruising post-treatment.
- Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications 5-7 days prior to treatment. (Unless medically directed to take these by your GP or specialist). Medications such as Aspirin, Vitamin E, Omega 3/Fish Oil Supplements, Ibuprofen, Advil, and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising, bleeding and swelling after injections.
- If you have a history of cold sores and are having injectable treatment around the mouth area, we recommend taking antiviral tablets either the day prior to treatment or on the day of treatment to reduce the chances of you developing a cold sore post-treatment. (These can be purchased over the counter at a pharmacy/chemist with no script usually required).
- Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you are feeling unwell or have an active infection in the treatment area.
- Avoid vigorous physical activity or any large intakes of alcohol 24 hours prior to your treatment, as this increases the risk of bruising.
- Do not rub, touch or massage the treated area until the next morning. No facial treatments, lasers, or massages is recommended for one week following treatment.
- It is recommended that you do not lie down for 6-8 hours post-treatment to avoid complications, as you may inadvertently rub the treated areas.
- Avoid applying makeup to the treated area for 24 hours post-treatment unless using Oxygenetix. Oxygenetix oxygenating foundation is the only foundation safe to use directly post-injectable treatment and is known for its ability to accelerate wound healing while also covering up the signs of treatment. (available to purchase in clinic)
- Avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for the next 24 hours.
- Avoid exposure to any heat treatments such as sauna, hot tub or tanning for up to 48 hours post-treatment
- Avoid exfoliating products (scrubs, AHAs, BHAs, Vitamin A) for the next four days.
- Paracetamol is recommended for any headaches or pain. Try to avoid taking blood thinning medicines such as ibuprofen (Nurofen), diclofenac (Voltaren), Aspirin and omega 3/fish oil for 48 hours post-treatment as this can increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
- There is a small risk of bruising. If this occurs, do not worry, as it is temporary; it’s generally minor and can easily be covered up with makeup. Arnica tablets and hirudoid/bruise-eze cream can be used to help reduce bruising.
- Avoid invasive skin treatments for two weeks, including skin needling, lasers, chemical peels and facial tattooing.
- Your treatment will take 4-14 days to start working. With full results being seen at two weeks. If, at two weeks, you have any concerns with your treatment or feel that you still have more muscle movement than expected, then please contact Aesthetics by Maddy-Jane to book a follow-up appointment. Adjustments can be made, and additional units may be required at your follow-up appointment at an additional cost. Your follow up appointment needs to be within four weeks of your initial treatment, anything longer than four weeks will be classified as a new treatment.
- The results and longevity of anti-wrinkle treatment can be enhanced by using medical-grade skincare. For product recommendations, please contact Aesthetics by Maddy-Jane or ask while in the clinic.
- Arrive at your appointment clean and free of topical ointments. Avoid heavy exercise, drinking alcohol and smoking on the day of your appointment. Reschedule if you are feeling unwell.
- Ensure you have something to eat and drink prior to your appointment to decrease the chances of light-headedness and dizziness from occurring during your treatment.
You are not a candidate if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have open sores or active irritation in the treatment area. Clients also may not be suitable for treatment if they have a history of neuromuscular diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Myasthenia Gravis or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Discussing your medical history with your injector during the consultation before your appointment is essential to ensure this treatment is right for you.
Schedule a consultation, whether or not you plan to undergo treatment, to discuss your options and receive guidance from our Nurses.
Trapezius slimming results are usually seem within 2–4 weeks, with full results typically visible within eight weeks. Enjoy the longevity of these outcomes, which commonly last for 3–6 months, contingent on factors such as the individual patient, the administered quantity, and the treated area.
Trapezius slimming helps to reduce the size of the trapezius muscle. Resulting in a soft, feminine silhouette and an elongated neckline.
A further enduring benefit of relaxing the traps is the alleviation of tight muscle tension, reducing associated neck and shoulder pain, along with headaches.
Muscle relaxing side effects are generally mild and can be treated effectively with paracetamol and topical agents or just waiting for them to pass. Muscle relaxing treatments may result in a headache, some swelling and redness at the treated area, slight bruising and tenderness at the injection point, minor bleeding at the injection site and people may experience some dizziness or nausea. It is recommended to follow your aftercare instructions and if experiencing any concerns to contact Nurse Maddy.Â
