Frequently Asked Questions
- Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special occasion or event, such as a wedding or a vacation, due to the risk of bruising and swelling post-treatment.
- Arnica tablets can be taken 1 week prior to your treatment if you wish to help prevent and minimise bruising post-treatment.
- Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications 5-7 days prior to treatment. (Unless medically directed to take these by your GP or specialist). Medications such as Aspirin, Vitamin E, Omega 3/Fish Oil Supplements, Ibuprofen, Advil, and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising, bleeding and swelling after treatments.
- If you have a history of cold sores and are having treatment around the mouth area, we recommend taking antiviral tablets either the day prior to treatment or on the day of treatment to reduce the chances of you developing a cold sore post-treatment. (These can be purchased over the counter at a pharmacy/chemist with no script usually required).
- Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you are feeling unwell or have an active infection.
- Avoid vigorous physical activity or any large intakes of alcohol 24 hours prior to your treatment as this increases the risk of bruising.
- Avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours post-treatment.
- Avoid rubbing/touching the treated area until the morning after treatment.
- Avoid applying makeup to the treated area for 24 hours post-treatment unless using Oxygenetix. Oxygenetix oxygenating foundation is the only foundation safe to use directly post-treatment and is known for its ability to accelerate wound healing while also covering up the signs of treatment. (Oxygenetix is available to purchase in the clinic)
- Immediately following your revolumising treatment, swelling, tenderness, and slight redness or bruising may present. This is a normal response and will eventually subside after a few days to a couple of weeks. Bruise-eze cream can be applied to help the healing process and is available to purchase in the clinic.
- LED light therapy can be added to your treatment to accelerate your healing, minimise your downtime and enhance your results. Red LED light therapy is available in clinics and can also be added to your treatment for an additional cost.
- To help reduce swelling and bruising, you may apply ice or a cold washer to the treated area on and off for up to 48 hours following treatment.

- You may feel some lumps for up to two weeks following your treatments as your body adjusts to the new volume and the product softens and starts to integrate into the tissue. You can gently massage the area if you feel any lumps or contact Aesthetics by Maddy-Jane if concerned.
- It is recommended to avoid extended exposure to sun or UV light and extreme hot or cold temperatures, including hot foods and drinks if your lips have been treated. Avoid facial laser treatment to the treated area for up to two weeks.

- Arrive at your appointment make-up free. Avoid heavy exercise, drinking alcohol and smoking on the day of your appointment. Reschedule if you are feeling unwell.

There are mild side effects to keep in mind when you’re considering jawline contouring. Its normal to experience some mild swelling, bruising and redness at the treatment site, slight pain or tenderness at injection points and minor bleeding. Some people may experience some dizziness or nausea. Luckily these side effects are not long lasting and should disappear shortly after treatment. It is recommended to follow your aftercare instructions and if experiencing any concerns to contact Aesthetics by Maddy-Jane.
Optimal results are achieved through a comprehensive understanding of the entire cosmetic area. Jawline contouring is strategically use to define the contours of the lower face, fostering an aesthetic, smooth, and beautifully defined appearance. Additionally, we assess the integration of the jawline with the neck, addressing under-chin fat in some cases to eliminate a double chin and enhance the jawline's definition.
Conversely, for those experiencing a widened or increased jaw size due to jaw clenching, we utilise muscle relaxing treatment. These treatments are administered into the muscles above the jawline, gradually reducing the size of the jaw over time for a softened and refined outcome.
